Folding Mobility Scooters

Folding mobility scooters have made it possible for an entire new crop of elderly citizens to have mobility scooters. At one time most have opted to just carry around wheelchairs because they are able to fit within the truck of most cars. Mobility scooters of the post were not able to do this. They were bulky and very heavy because of the hub motor and the lithium battery.
Folding mobility scooters have allowed scooters to go where other mobility scooters wish they could go. Now, elderly are replacing their wheelchairs and opting to stick with either one these solutions. Either to get a gas powered mobility scooter or get an electric mobility scooter. Either are great choices it is just that the gas powered version the owner would have to worry about the gas while in the car.

So how does these scooter work? Most portable scooters can be dismantled. The unit does break apart, it does not stay as one unit but different parts are able to fold or break away from other parts to allow the unit to fold to a smaller shape. When it has gotten to its destination it is just taken out piece by piece and the parts are snapped in place to reassemble the scooter. The other folding mobility scooter is like a retracting unit. They have specially made components that just retract down or up to make the units get smaller. Once needed it is as easy as pressing a button and the unit opens back up for use. On both types of scooters the battery can also be removed to make the unit even smaller.
Most mobility scooters are powered by a hub motor. A hub motor is an electric motor built directly into the hub of a wheel. A advantage of this type of designed motor is that it uses no additional transmission. This is perfect for folding mobility scooters; there is nothing that can be lost when the scooter is being broken down. These hub motors are powered by a 300 watts lithium ion powered battery. Lithium ion batteries are the best types of batteries on the market for rechargeable batteries. They charge pretty fast and they don’t experience battery memory, which has been a big problem in previous battery designs.
